Parsons BFA Thesis

Rose Qi's 2025 thesis collection turns garment construction into a modular, puzzle-like system: the LEGO of fashion. Traditional stitching is replaced by interlocking edges that snap together, so each garment can be assembled, taken apart and reassembled, shifting between multiple ways to wear and style it.

Inspired by the fluid nature of personal space, the collection redefines the boundary between body and environment, and each piece becomes an extension of the wearer's movement and emotion. It is built from laser-cut bonded leather, rigid yet flexible enough to hold the puzzle edges. Without seams, the focus moves to form, assembly and wearability: sculptural yet wearable silhouettes that read less like clothing and more like wearable architecture.

By removing the limits of sewing and fixed construction, the project proposes fashion that is built, not stitched: a flexible system that grows with its wearer, who becomes both the designer and the assembler.
